I worked at Empire Australia magazine for over 9 years as the Art Director. Empire is a monthly magazine specialising movie content for cinema release as well as at home DVD and streaming. It contained reviews, on set visits, the latest news and feature articles. We also produced EmpireTV which focused on streaming content as well as special one-shot publications and poster book collections.
My work and skills included layout design, illustration, print management, retouching and Photoshop design as well as attending a number of photoshoots to assist in direction.
During my time there we one a number of awards including:
• Winner Australian Publishers Award for Best Special Edition in 2014 for EmpireTV. (Game of Thrones)
• Finalist The Maggies Magazine Cover of the year-2014. (Wolf Creek 2 cover which had an app that could scan the cover revealing a virtual cover special message video from Mick Taylor)
• Winner Best Youth and Entertainment Cover Maggies 2013 (James Bond double gatefold).
• Winner Best General Interest title in 2009 and 2012.
