Grok Academy is an online platform used by primary and secondary school students that teaches Digital Technologies. Subjects include coding (eg Python, HTLML, CSS), Cyber Security, Design Thinking and more. There are also resources for teachers such as curriculum advice, Personal Development training and classroom resources such as lesson plans, posters, card games and more.

As my role as Senior Designer I was involved in the branding of Grok Academy (after the merger between the Australian Computing Academy – where I previously worked – and Grok Learning). I created the new logo, font guide, colour guide, illustration guide and technical guide which gave direction on layouts such as posters, books, flyers, etc for print materials and digital guidelines for social media and the website in consultation with upper management, the marketing team and staff.

As the solo designer I created everything from posters to animations, trade stand designs to T-shirts, Annual reports to illustrations, PowerPoint presentations to business cards. Later an Art Director and UX team was hired where we worked on refining processes and the UX/UI of the brand in consultation with a brand agency, research company and user/teacher feedback.

I was also part of the team appropriating the Australian cyber security course for New Zealand Aotearoa schools which involved creating english and te reo Māori versions of the courses and print material with cultural consultation from The Ministry of Education and Core Education. I created illustrations and print material for the cards and posters as well as animations and edited videos for the NZ Aotearoa schools in English and te reo Māori.

As part of the company's development we moved to a Product focused model and used OKRs (Objectives and Key results) as our framework. I was on the Teacher Personal Development team which focused on training teachers in school on how to teach Digital Technologies in the classroom. I worked on resources for teachers (print and video editing PD videos) as well as helping in the creation of a PD platform that aimed to elevate the teaching quality of Digital Technologies.
